Students Opinions
Victoria: Qatar Academy could have a better reputation as a more fun school. It would really boost moral and get people talking more.
Maya: I do want there to be more social events.
Darwin: I feel like if we have more social events we can connect better as a soon and make a better impact on our school life and social life.
Aya & Alla: Give us a chance to socialize, so we can get to know more students before we graduate so we can have a better memory of this school.
Hamizah: It helps people not only in the grade but in other grades get closer and have a closer bond.
Reem: There are barely any events where other grades can socialize with each other.
Amal: students need to interact with each other more to broaden their horizons, because people are limited to the people to their grade or to the people in their class.
The problem is that the school lacks social events, which prevents our school community from having a good & tighter relationship. In the previous year, the only social events that occurred throughout the year included; 1 back to school night, 1 talent show, 2 sports tournaments (held in the school) and a brief end-of-school social for each grade. Firstly, the majority of students would rather do anything but go to the back to school night, and a maximum of 15 people went to watch tournaments in the weekend because they personally wanted to. Students don't want to come together as a community in their own time because the variety of events aren't fun and creative. Qatar Academy is an exceptional school academic wise, but social wise, the bar isn't as high. When the school community isn't strong, it becomes a problem as there becomes insufficiency in collaboration, relationships and trust between teachers and students.
