Social Events in QA

The solution seems nearly obvious; to have more social events in the school. Although it isn’t as easy as it sounds. The first problem that we encounter is the cultural side of things. As a school and as students we need to continue to respect to culture of the country we are in, and the people we are surrounded by. Some social events like mixed dances and dinners could be culturally insensitive. To avoid problems that could occur in this area, all social events that would be in the school would like always, not be mandatory in any way. Nobody would be forced to attend anything, therefore if a student doesn’t want to be in a social event with the opposite gender they aren’t anywhere near required to attend. Having social events wouldn’t be compulsory, but would be available to those who are willing to attend.

The next step to a solution would be to work around the calendar. If we have 4 events that people could vote for out of a possible 8-10, we could have 2 events per semester. This ensures it isn’t overwhelming but at the same time the school community still has opportunities to grow socially.

In terms of money to set up the event, both the student council and students who feel passionate about bring social events into the school community can have a bake sale and/or non-uniform day. The profits would go to funding events in the school, and tickets to the events like Prom or a Movie Night would continue to help fund for both location, food and other decorations.
